We make brands personal. We build emotional connections between companies and people, using all forms of media. Not surprisingly, we believe in good chemistry: with our clients, with each other, and, most importantly, between brands and their constituents. We labor obsessively to make people feel something from our work, to create brands worth believing in. Despite our name, that's as close as we get to having a formula.

    Scott Aal

    Creative Director / Partner

Scott was named Best Citizen five consecutive years at Congress Springs Elementary, and has been trying to live up to that legacy ever since. He’s worked hard to be both a good writer and good guy through stints at Ketchum, Hal Riney & Partners, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, and then fifteen years running his own agency with Grant. Writer-wise, Scott has been recognized by every major national and international award show, including gold from the One Show, Cannes and Clios, and honors from CA, D&AD, and the Effies. Person-wise, we’ll just say that if Scott weren’t creative directing, he’d make a delightful receptionist.

    Grant Richards

    Creative Director / Partner

Grant is our resident contradiction. A four-time Adweek All-Star art director who can write with the best of them. A native Texan without the slightest hint of an accent. A high-level tri-athlete who’s surprisingly laid back. And a man of few words who has a lot to say. Grant started at his father’s agency in Dallas and stayed 12 years, then moved to Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and stayed for four. He left there to start an agency with Scott, and they’ve been at it ever since. Along the way, Grant has won a lot of awards. He used to care a lot more about that. Now he cares more about the kinds of things his clients care about.

    Dayna Carroll

    Account Director

Dayna started her career in New York, moving west to join Chemistry Club six years ago. She brought with her an abundance of order, process, and strategic chops, as well as a knack for building strong and lasting client relationships. She has managed a myriad of businesses, from tech and health care to retail and consumer electronics. Dayna is also a classically trained singer, and famously sang the National Anthem before our first (and last) annual Firehouse Front Lobby Floor Hockey Tournament. It was by far the best performance of the event.

    Director of Finance

    Laura Puccinelli

    Director of Finance

Laura is a Marin County native and a graduate of UC Berkeley’s Business School. She worked at a public accounting biggie for five years before moving on to advertising, fulfilling her dream to wear jeans at work. After spending six year at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners managing a staff of nine and facilitating that agency’s tremendous growth, she joined up with Grant and Scott again and they’ve been working together for the past 15 years. Laura is a strange but wonderful cross between Mother Theresa and Mary Tyler Moore: kind, earnest, honest, and more fun than a finance person should be allowed to be.

    Creative Director

Once you’ve fled your home country on a naval ship with your father at the helm, nothing much frightens you. Suosdey arrived in the U.S. from Cambodia at the age of 18 months and has tackled every challenge since with utter fearlessness. Before joining us, Suosdey created amazing work at Leagas Delaney, Hal Riney & Partners, and Eleven, for brands like HP, adidas, Sprint, and Apple. She also has a nurturing side (she’s the mother of two adorable kids) which has helped make her an excellent mentor of young creative talent. Work with her, and you’re likely to receive 4 a.m. PDFs brimming with wonderful ideas; when (or if) she actually sleeps, no one knows for sure.
